What is the Value of this Project?
1776 Revolution, Historical Painting, Battlefront Chaos, Smoke-filled, Determined, Pivotal, Dynamic Composition.
We live in very dark & troubled times. Whether the United States of America can Survive as a viable entity (political, cultural, social &/or economic) is, at present, very uncertain. This is Dangerous for a wide variety of reasons, but to keep it Simple:
The Death of a Nation & its Peoples is not merely via removal & extinguishing but likewise the forgetting of its critical mores, traditions, ideas, bloodlines, etc.
The English novelist & poet Mary Ann Evans (who wrote under the pen name George Eliot) put it best: "Our dead are never dead to us until we have forgotten them."
Today, the United States of America has all but forgotten itself. The signs of this are everywhere as the wider society implodes before us in real time.
The academy pursues Historical Revisionism; the media openly mock the Forefathers of the Nation; the politicians make a circus of the Nation's mores & values & the judges are ripping apart the Social Fabric with gleeful determination.
... Somewhere, somehow, someway... it all went wrong!
There are a lot of Romantics out there who try & regularly simplify matters... 'If only such & such historical event never happened!', 'If only we did X instead of Y!', etc. While interesting to contemplate, they all have the same issue:
There is a lack of Perspective. As some are fond of saying: 'There is no 30,000-foot view of things'. Standalone events can never give us Sound Explanations on matters of Cause-Effect. To get there, a more "Holistic" approach is needed.
Enter this Project. I was moved to it by a renewed sense of Urgency, given our dark & troubled times. As someone hailing from a part of the world that is more... 'Raw & cutthroat,' I know well what happens when Nations & peoples Fall:
All the genuine good in people, places, events, times, etc., is Scapegoated. All manner of 'Book Burnings' take place & whole societies are rendered Evil wastrels & vermin who merely all 'Deserved their ignoble fates.'
This is why I have decided to do what little I can to leave a Record of sorts about these dark & troubled times so that when the Scapegoating & annihilation commences, it will be apparent that Nations & peoples have lost their reason once more.
This can only be done if American History is told as it ought to be: by the peoples of the times themselves & in their own words. The Primary Source Material is critical. America ought to be Celebrated, not maligned without end.
When appropriately done, such a Synopsis of the Historical record makes it easier to figure out 'What went wrong?' in the aforementioned Holistic manner. This will not be 'Fully Objective,' however, that is not the goal:
Instead, it is to find in the Celebration of an old friend the True Good in him & make sense of the unfolding Tragedy in a manner that does not de-humanize him nor render him a 'Paragon of Virtue,' immune to follies, misdeeds & evils.
I hope, Dear Reader(s) & Listener(s), that when we embark on this journey together, we can look at America as such a friend, one who should not be 'Buried in the Dustbin of History,' as many wish:
But one whose story is looked at in a Fair-minded & just manner.
