“Hollanders are not a nation to rob another of its property, but desire to live in friendship with all people, and trade with them.”

~ Jan van Riebeeck, Precis of the Archives of the Cape of Good Hope (c. January 1656 - December 1658), as quoted in Riebeeck's Journal (1897), by H. C. V. Leibrandt, Cape Town, p. 67

The Annals of America is a mammoth project whose sole purpose will be to tell the American story (via Podcast format) using Primary Source Materials strictly from The Annals of America, first Published in 1968 by Encyclopaedia Britannica & edited by Charles Van Doren & Mortimer J. Adler. Subscribe to join me, Dear Listeners, on this long but meaningful journey!

Here is an Excellent Supplement by F. R. E. Blom titled ‘Neighbours in America. New Sweden and New Netherland.’ It gives much-needed details about not just the New Netherland settlement but also the New Sweden settlement.
